TASKS

The Airport Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and binding slot allocation of all inbound and outbound flights according to Instrument Flight Rules (IFR- flights) operating at the moment to 17 German airports. The aim is to use the capacity available to an optimum. In addition to the scheduled and charter traffic, the coordination duties of the airport coordinator also include the coordination of General Aviation flights( business trips, private flights and partly military air traffic etc.) In 2000 the Airport coordinator's team coordinated 2,1 million inbound and outbound flights to 17 German airports. The Airport Coordinator is also responsible for scrutinizing the coordinated traffic (slot monitoring). Particular points to check are

  • whether operated flights, which are subject to slot allocation, were coordinated in accordance with regulations, whether an airlines published schedule corresponds to the coordinated arrival and departure slots
  • wether the actual schedule operations do correspond with the coordinated arrival and departure times, or whether slots may have been wasted by not using them, wether the operated schedules have been on time.
